1. Whom do I contact?

Contact your departmental executive officer (DEO) or departmental administrator to discuss plans to transfer funds to the University of Iowa. This individual can assist with the process or connect you with the appropriate contact in your unit.

2. What is the process to transfer funds to the University of Iowa?

Researchers relocating to the University of Iowa must obtain approval to transfer active awards. Principal investigators (PIs) must notify their current institution and the sponsoring agency and allow sufficient time to complete institution- and agency-specific requirements related to the transfer.

Your departmental research administrator can assist with the university’s routing requirements. You may also contact the Division of Sponsored Programs at dsp@uiowa.edu with questions.

3. When should I initiate the process?

Notify your current institution, the sponsoring agency, and the University of Iowa at least 90 days before the desired transfer date.
