1. What are the public access requirements?
In response to the Office of Science and Technology Policy’s Aug. 25, 2022, memorandum, “Ensuring Free, Immediate, and Equitable Access to Federally Funded Research,” federal agencies have updated their public access policies. These policies ensure that peer-reviewed scholarly publications resulting from federally funded research are freely available and publicly accessible without embargo or delay.
Scientific data underlying peer-reviewed publications should be made freely available and publicly accessible. Many federal agencies require submission of data management and sharing plans with research proposals.
Refer to the specific notice of funding opportunity and the funding agency’s public access policy and data management and sharing plan requirements.
2. Whom can I contact?
The University of Iowa Libraries provide compliance guidelines and resources, training for departments and labs, assistance with PubMed submissions, and with Data Management and Sharing Plan requirements
