Previously collected data or samples may require Institutional Review Board (IRB) review for transfer if:
The data or samples include subject identifiers such as name, date of birth, contact information, dates of service
There is a link between an ID code or pseudonym and subject identifiers
Submit a Human Subjects Research Determination Form to determine if IRB approval is required.
The transferring institution typically initiates a data use or materials transfer agreement. Work with the Division of Sponsored Programs to complete agreements for transferring data or samples to the University of Iowa.
